Toile trays became popular in the 1940’s. These beautiful trays are often referred to “toleware.” They are made of metal, and feature a colorful enameled picture decoratively painted.
Some of the most beautiful tole trays in my opinion, are the floral trays with bright painted details.
Emerged around the 18th century, they were common primarily among Scandinavian immigrants in New England.
