The classic 50’s style full skirt is making a come back. This look can add a lot of curve to your shape, drawing attention to your waist no matter what size you are.
Here are a couple ways you can pull of this look:
Flat Sandals can tone down the formality of the skirt- This look can very easily appear very formal, so do what you can by making it appear more casual. Wear a natural fiber blouse and pair the skirt with a pair of flat sandals for a look that can be worn every day.
Work with the right length- Choosing a full skirt that’s the right length for you can make all the difference when it comes to looking stylish. Mid-calf skirts can give you the fullness you are after, without the length being overwhelming. The right length that show off the right amount of skin and draw attention to your legs, while cutting down the weight of the skirt.
Choose the right fabric– I am a big fan of these skirts, but I have noticed they are hard to find. Amazon doesn’t have much of a selection, and when they do have an attractive skirt, it’s biggest size is a size 8 which is small. So make your own, or have one made. Its a simple gathering of a skirt, a zipper, and a waist band with a button.
Think about luxurious winter skirts and pair them with leather calf boots. Use 100% wool for the cold winters, with a long sleeve top that you can tuck in. Look for leather belt to pair with it.
Go for something natural for the summer like linen or raw silk. Raw silk almost feels as light as paper, and gives a fullness to larger skirts with gathering or box pleats. Raw silk often comes in a variety of bold colors…
