You are trying on a dress at a mall you have never been to and have to wonder if you are doing it in private, or if there are 2 way mirrors installed in the changing rooms.

When we stay at a hotel, the thought always goes through my mind if the bathrooms or common areas are monitored with two way mirrors.

How can you tell for sure if the seemingly ordinary mirror hanging on the wall is a real mirror, or actually a 2-way mirror?

Go to a mirror in your house and place the tip of your fingernail against the reflective surface.  You will notice a GAP between your fingernail and the image of the nail.  When there is a GAP, it is a GENUINE mirror.

However, if your fingernail DIRECTLY TOUCHES the image of your nail, then BEWARE! IT IS A 2-WAY MIRROR!

There is a common slogan…  “No Space, Leave the Place”

Now you know what to look for when you go try on that next outfit in that strange fitting room, or check into that hotel room for a weekend getaway.
