Luxurious Minimalism: Elegant Interiors by Fritz Von Der Schulenburg presents an collection of the most inspiring minimalist interiors in the world. Minimalism, is often thought as boring, but rather these interiors embraces an intriguing approach to design that requires creativity to keep it interesting.

The homes collected in this book are paired down, and range from a Colorado lodge in a dramatic mountain setting; a Loire Valley château; a traditional country house in Litchfield; a Fire Island beach house; a recently renovated baroque palace in Sweden; private estates in California and Vermont, and much more.

How to make your home more interesting with less……

1. Save Only The Best.  Really keep what you think is worth talking about and holding on to. Collect items that have unique stories to them, than just to collect random things. A collection of 24 top hats that are unique and different can be far more exciting than a bunch of random things scattered everywhere.

2. Feature Your Collections. This Traditional Corbel in Pine – 16 x 9 paired with wood boards would look terrific on a plain wall. Feature 6 shelves, and really display your collection in such a way that every piece is special.

3. Invest Time In Making Your Architecture Pop. The picture below features an amazing faux finish on the wall, that not much is needed in this room. Faux painting doesn’t have to be as complicated as it looks. Duel rollers are available on amazon, which allow you to blend two colors together. The trick to great faux finishes is to blend patterns out, so they don’t look deliberate. In the past, to finish off my faux finishes, I simply mix together part clear glaze and part paint, and go over the whole project with a plain roller.  A very thin coat will blend together your mistakes.  A coat of glaze at the end of any faux wall finish gives it that professional look.
