Brocade fabrics can be some of the most beautiful fabric to look upon because of its complex patterns and intensive silky colors.

The Boston museum of Fine Arts Textile Collection featured a large collection of woven silks, compound weaves, brocades, velvets and damasks which date from the 12th century, and today this particular fabric has been showing up in stores like J Crew, Lane Bryant and Anthropologie.

Europe had been trading with the middle east ever since the 12th and 13th centuries which is where textiles such as brocade first surfaced.

Brocade, and raw silks can be a terrific way of adding a complex design into your wardrobe. A jacket over a suit, a clutch, or pair of heels in the brocade fabric can add a dynamic element to any plain suit or dress.

J. Crew came out with a collection for their 2013 lineup that included a number of beautiful brocade pieces.  Anthropologie, also has a number of stunning pieces that you can buy for less now.  If you love the textiles in the renaissance, you might want to incorporate some of these modern pieces into your wardrobe.  You are going to love the rich colors!
